Travelling in Spain

Citizens of the European Union (EU) member states and Switzerland can travel to Spain using their national identity card. Travelers from UK Latvia, Denmark, Ireland and visitors from member states without ID cards must carry a full valid passport. All non EU other nationalities must have a full valid passport.
Spain's national carrier is Iberia, who operate regular flights from most major cities into Spain. The busiest airports are Madrid, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca and Malaga. You can buy an e-ticket for Iberia over the internet using your credit card, if you do REMEMBER you have to show the original credit card at check-in. Low cost carriers operating to Spain include: Vueling, easyJet, Ryanair.
You can travel from London to Spain by train however there is no direct route, Eurostar from London to Paris then Elipsos overnight to Madrid or Barcelona. Spain has a modern and reliable rail service, most of the trains are relatively new and punctual, the only problem is that not all towns are serviced, and you may need to take a bus.
Ferries run to mainland Spain regularly from the Canary Islands, Italy, North Africa (Algeria, Morocco and the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla) and the UK from Plymouth to Santander, and Portsmouth to Bilbao.
Travel to Spain by road is simple and can be the most interesting (although most time consuming), Well serviced routes from France and Portugal, have good well maintained roads.
