Malaga City Bull Ring

Malaga city bullring 'La Malagueta' is one of the most important in the country. During Feria de Agosto, in August, Malaga city is alive with colour and festivities. Visitors and locals together, celebrate the festival in traditional costume, at a multitude of venues throughout the city. Live music, firework displays, flamenco dancing and an abundance of food stalls selling typical Andalusian cuisine, can be found thoughout the city. The highlight of the festival is of course, some of the most spectacular bull fighting throughout Spain.
Plaza de torros de La Malagueta was built between 1874-1876 and seats up to 14,000 spectators. Situated in the city center within walking distance of Malaga beach, and close to the Castillo de Gibralfaro, La Malagueta has dressing rooms, corrals, stables, a menagerie for training the horses, an infirmary, and its own museum.


La Malagueta Museum

The Museum at plaza de torros Malagueta is dedicated to the famous bull-fighter Antonio Ordoñez. Born in Ronda in 1932, son of Cayetano Ordonez 'El Niño de la Palmas', also a well-known bullfighter. Antonio Ordoñez made his first public appearance as a bullfighter in plaza de la torros Malagueta, Malaga aged 16. Later performing in Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas in Madrid. Chronicled by Hemingway in 'The Dangerous Summer,' Ordoñez died in hospital in Seville aged 66.
