25km northwest of Loulé,next to the hills of the Serra do Caldeirão and in the midst of some relatively unspoiled, hilly countryside, you will find the village of Alte. The minute you walk into the village you experience the real Algarve.
Alte is a typical Algarve village with white-washed houses, blue painted windows and facades. The narrow streets and gardens are filled with flowers and hanging baskets retain much of their original charm.

If you travel to Alte by bus or coach you will arrive at the coach park just outside the village center, nearby you can cross a narrow bridge, follow the road around to the left to enter the village center. During the summer weekends the village can get really busy.
