Kamari Beach is one of the most well known beach resorts of Santorini, situated ten kilometers southeast of Fira, it is separated from it's neighboring resort of Perissa by a mountain Mesa Vouno, which juts out into the ocean at this point. The general landscape is similar to Perissa and the rest of south east Santorini.

The village of Kamari was totally rebuilt after the earthquake in 1956. Kamari village is built along the beach front with a large diversity of hotels, restaurants snack bars, caf├ęs, and night clubs. More built up than it's neighboring resort of Perissa the beach extends from Mesa Vouno in the east past the airport to Monolithos Beach in the west. Kamari beach has a coarse black sand is quite stony. In the water, the sea bed quickly becomes more rocky and dips very rapidly, water is cool and clear.

To the north west of the village a winding road leads up the mountain side to Ancient Thira, or across the mountain to Perissa. Ancient Thira is about 2.5KM by the roadway and although paved can be a fairly strenuous trip. Use good shoes/trainers, take at least 2 bottles of water and wear a hat.

From the West of the beach, you can board a boat for a 15minuite trip to Perissa (approx 3Euro 2010), prepare to get wet legs as there is no dry boarding or disembarking point either in Kamari or Perissa. The boat lands on the beach at Perissa the other side of Mesa Vouno. Trips start about 09:00 and finish about 19:30.
