The Greek Sporades Islands

The Sporades are located off of Greece's eastern coast, of the 24 islands within the chain only four are permanently inhabited. Of the four, Alonnisos, Skiathos, Skopelos and Skyros, the most populous and the only one of the four with an international airport is Skiathos. All of the islands are known for their hilly terrain, and lush vegetation. Skiáthos, Skópelos and Alónissos, are the favored holiday destinations all renowned for having numerous wonderful beaches, and get very busy in the peak season.
Skýros, the largest and most south-easterly of the inhabited islands is covered by forest to the north, and is the location of Mount Olympus. The bare and rocky south of the island, is dominated by Mount Kochila. The island is less popular with holiday makers and has far fewer visitors than the others.
