Skiathos

Skiathos is a small picturesque island located in the Western Aegean Sea. The Western most island of the Sporades Islands, Skiathos Island is only 50 km2 but has over 60 sandy beaches, along it's 40 km of coastline.
One of the first things you will notice when arriving on Skiathos is how green the Island is. Skiathos is covered with pine trees particularly in the southwestern and northern regions. The trees and forests provide a superb backdrop to the many small sandy coves and secluded beaches.
Skiathos has only one main road, this follows the coastline and joins the main town, airport and port to the beaches and villages along the southern coast of the island. To travel anywhere in the interior or northern side of the island of Skiathos a 4X4 is almost always required, and certainly to access many of the smaller beaches and coves this is a must.

Skiathos town is the largest and indeed only town on the island, most of the shops restaurants, banks and businesses are located within Skiathos town itself.
Skiathos town maintains it's own substantial port and provides the only airport link for Skiathos and the nearby Islands of Skopelos and Alonnisos. Taxis and a fairly cheap, reliable bus service provide the only public transport on the island.
